Counselling for couples
There are a number of reasons why you might feel in need of help with your relationship
One of you may have had an affair
You may feel unheard or misunderstood by your partner
Perhaps things are not the same anymore and you are wondering what has happened
You may have become distant with each other
Perhaps you are having sex less frequently or not at all
There could be a sexual difficulty that has created distance between you
Maybe you are considering splitting up or struggling to stay together
Something else maybe affecting your relationship
Couples counselling can help you to express how you feel more freely and listen more clearly to each other so you can find a better way forward.
An outline of what’s involved
When we meet, we'll talk about what’s brought you to counselling and what you may want to get out of our time together. We'll discuss how many sessions we may need and book them together. This first meeting is also a chance for us to see how we get along. It's important you feel comfortable talking with me because it’s through our relationship that progress will be made. We’ll discuss confidentiality to enable you you to feel safe enough to be open to share your innermost thoughts and feelings. There’ll be plenty of opportunity to ask questions. I'll give you an idea at the end of our first hour together about how we can move forward.
How much will it cost
Each meeting lasts for an hour and to begin with will usually be once a week.
The cost is between £60 and £70 per session depending on what we’re working on.
My approach
My belief is that each person has the inner strength to find their own path to a more fulfilling life and that the foundations for this are a heightened self-awareness and a strong sense of self-worth. I practice an Integrative approach to counselling calling on Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Cognitive-Behavioural therapy models, with an underlying focus on Emotionally Focused Therapy aiming to bring clarity, insight and honesty into your life, enabling you to find a more positive way forward.
The quality of the relationship we form is key to bringing about change. With my approach you’ll experience a safe, non-judgmental and open place to explore your life. What we discuss is confidential and private. This will be an opportunity to express thoughts and feelings that perhaps have been previously unheard.
You’ll be in a place where you’ll experience empathy and understanding offering an opportunity to hear your own voice differently. Through gentle challenge and reflection, you’ll be able to safely reflect on your life with a new perspective.
I’ve seen again and again first-hand how we can access our own natural healing process and as a result move forward to live life more fully, deeply and contentedly.
